Today's review is on Southern Superstitions by B. J. RobinsonAfter reading Last Resort, I became an instant fan of Robinson's writing style. Though works of fiction, her books give the reader a sense that the characters are "real" people facing "real" problems. There is romance, love, and loss in them, but there is also always unwavering faith in God.
Myrtle was just 25 when her husband passed away, leaving her to care for their berry farm and their 4 year-old daughter, June on her own. She has always believed in God, but has also been a superstitious woman, and poor June found that she couldn't do many of the things the other kids did because of her mothers worries.
Now June is an adult, and though she tries hard to remind her mother to trust in God, her mother maintains her "silly" superstitions. So when a solid black cat crosses their path, any all all bad luck to come to them is blamed on it. Even after being blessed when June falls in love with a wonderful man and has a son of her own. But could there be something to her mother's superstitions and that darn cat?
When Andy doesn't return from a hunting trip June and her family fear the worst. As the years pass, June decides she must go on with her life and chooses to return to school to earn her teaching certification, all the while never loosing faith that her husband will one day return to her.
Because I myself am a Christian woman, I am not offended by the amount of "religiousness" within the pages of Ms. Robinson's work, and I feel that they are a great addition to any Christian library. But I also think that they have enough mystery, danger, and excitement that they would be a great addition to anyone's library as well.
Well developed, well written and all around well done.

Southern Superstitions BJ Robinson 9781612529059 Books Reviews

This romantic suspense is a tale full of a loving relationship during times of trial a young woman, still in college struggling to sell strawberries after a rain gives the usual outlet a reason to pay less for the crop, a flood that takes out the whole crop, and the mysterious disappearance of a loved one. Meanwhile, we are given a good view of people who live and give together with love and faith. I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and adventure, especially Christians.
BJ Robinson utilizes her own experiences and her knowledge of life in the southern states in writing Southern Supertitions. I fell in love with Andy and June from the start - the sweet hero and heroine of the story. The delightfully down-home Mrs. Myrtle adds spice to the story as we learn of the many supersitions she believes in.
Ms. Robinson allows us to feel June's pain when her husband disappears, and June has no assurance she'll ever see Andy again. One can't help but love the characters, each uniquely portrayed by the author. By the time I'd read to the end of the story, I think I would know how to work a strawberry patch. This delightful tale deserves a five-star rating.
Once again B.J Robinson pulls me in and doesn't let me go with characters such as Myrtle the Superstitious Mother, June, the daughter who tries to get her to see the importance of leaning on the Lord and not superstitions and Andy June's husband, Rod her son, when tragedy strikes and Andy goes missing after a hunting trip will they find the strength they need in their faith? Find out when reading Southern Superstitions.
Collen Coble, Brandilyn Collins, Terri Blackstock and now I have found an awesome mystery suspense author comparable to them all, with a gift she writes out of passion, and faith, the Lord has truly blessed her with a gift, and if you haven't done so yet, check out Last Resort as well, I think you will be happy you did!!
Congratulations, B J Robinson! I thoroughly enjoyed the multi-layers of this wonderful romance. The twists, turns, and mystery lead down unexpected roads, filling the reader with anticipation and even a few breathless moments.
B J Robinson lent a voice of authenticity to the southern way of speaking within the pages of Southern Superstitions. "Last one in is a rotten egg." "Well, she'll just have to learn which side her bread is buttered on."
The author's message is softly folded into the storyline creating a natural flow that points us to Christ.
B J Robinson also captured the southern love of anything true to nature Animals, sun-filled days, moonlit nights and camping under the stars--just to name a few.
As for the mystery waiting for you in Southern Superstitions I'll leave that for you to discover on your own. You won't be disappointed.
My Review
Oh My, I was so caught up in this fast pace thriller that it was hard to put down. Author B.J. Robinson is an amazing writer. What an awesome ride, reading all of the storyline that she has put within these pages.
The characters and the superstitions, the faith in God, all the thought provoking beliefs that author B.J. Robinson writes into her books will always keep be coming back for more. She writes as if she her self is part of the book and there fore you become part of the book. You are trying to make decisions or yelling at the characters to make decisions all the way to the end. And then, you are yelling or crying, laughing or just plain tuckered because you were in the book right along side the characters.
SOUTHERN SUPERSTITIONS is one book so chalked full of everything a reader would ever want. A Must Read!!!
So due to the above, if I could it would be higher, I am giving this book a Breath of Life ratings of
Five Clock Rating!!!
Disclosure I received the above book in exchange for my honest opinion and review. Opinions are my own and yours may differ.
